Why choose?
It’s in a Claire Saffitz recipe for a chocolate chip recipe when she adds both dark and milk chocolate chips, invoking her husband, who apparently says “Why choose?”
Why choose indeed. Why choose unless you have to? I often remind myself of the Buridan’s Ass fable, where a donkey dies because he can’t choose between food and water, both of which are the same distance from where he is but in the opposite direction. But why choose?
You could say that that each cookie can have a limited amount of chips per cookie anyway, and in a sense you are choosing to have less dark chocolate chips (or the other way round).
