Perfectionism
One way to go through life is, you compare reality to some standard, only focus on the mistakes and have pass/fail grading criteria. You pass only when it is all perfect, or it is a constant failure.
Another way, you compare reality to a vision, focus on the full picture – both what’s there and what’s missing, and grade yourself accordingly – as a percentage.
In the former you can very quickly render yourself catatonic, while in the other you can focus on just the next missing thing.

One in which you go and change the “standard”, another where there is no standard, you just accept things as they are.
