Keep your pen moving
One of the most useful bits of advice about doing creative work that I've gotten is "Keep your pen moving." A random side project I have been working on has been to turn a friend's kid's doodles into a sticker pack. The challenging bit is that what I have is a badly taken photo of 3 sets of sketches he had done over several days, the lighting is different, the line-widths are different, the fill tone is different. I want the sticker pack to feel like a coherent set, but preserve 99% of the personality that the sketches have. The moment I try to re-render using AI or even re-create them myself, that's gone. And on multiple occasions, I've chided myself for spending any time on this seemingly pointless project, and yet, I've finally gotten somewhere, a mishmash of multiple different techniques all of which came from the act of keeping your pen moving.
