Going fancy? Everything downstream is fancy too
I wonder what’s your take on the minibar. I remember being at a hotel with a friend and I nonchalantly opened a bag of chips and he was aghast.
But I am not so callous. We were in a nice hotel not a super fancy one. And then I could splurge on everything else: minibar, meals, laundry, massage and so on (admittedly some of these could be middling – the massage especially).
Whereas when you go fancy then everything downstream is fancy. You allowed yourself to splurge on the hotel and then either you are holding yourself back and not enjoying enough or the splurging continues.
Same for a car. Fancy car, fancy repairs.
It’s a domino effect.
More and more I am appreciating my original approach of being a bit more prudent about the first domino or at least knowing if it is a domino; and then splurge away on a choice by choice basis than getting domino’ed into blowing away all your money.
